The groundbreaking ceremony for the erection of the Royal Statue of late King-Father Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk, Preah Borom Ratanak Kaudh, would be held on Feb. 20, according to local media reports.
H.E. Tith Sothea, member of a Committee tasked with the erection of Preah Borom Ratanak Kaudh’s Royal Statue said that the 27 meter height statue, made of copper, will be built in a public park, some 200 meters east of the Independence Monument.
The Royal Government of Cambodia and Phnom Penh Municipality will be responsible for the construction cost, added H.E. Tith Sothea, stressing that the Royal Statue is expected to be inaugurated on Oct. 30 this year (the late King-Father’s Birthday).
