Hanoi, Vietnam -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/05/2013 -- World travel expert Lonely Planet have given yet another boost to Cambodian Tour companies as they list Cambodia in their recently publish. Best-value travel destinations for 2013. They chose their best nine from all over the world and Cambodia came in at number 2. It is of course more than deserved as Cambodia continues to be one of the cheapest destinations on the planet, despite have World Heritage Sites as famous as Angkor Wat and rich cultural cities like Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Battambang.
Joining Cambodia on the list were Gothenburg, Sweden in first place, Bolivia, Spain, Slovenia, Nepal, Portland Oregan, Goergia and Namibia. This impressive list was compiled by their many travel experts. It represents the very best of value for money destinations.
The Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia has been working hard to promote the country as a holiday destination, backed up by some exceptional tour companies. Lonely Planet singled out the rise in the number of mid ranged hotels in the capital and Siem Reap. It also list the budget accommodation available and the less visited regions which are even cheaper. The south coast with its tropical islands and resorts also get a mention. As did Angkor Wat of course. No trip to the Kingdom would be complete without taking that in.
Bookings have been up all year as the entire Southeast Asian region continues to inspire and draw huge numbers. Mr. Tran Truong, CEO of Asia Tour Advisor said, “ Yet another boost to the already thriving holiday business in Cambodia. This is such good news. The Cambodian people have a sensible attitude to sustainable tourism. They realise that value for money is extremely important in this highly competitive market. Resisting the temptation to hike prices, has been responsible for huge increases in tourist traffic.”
Cambodia has enjoyed growth in the tourism sector for many successive years now and it shows little chance of slowing down. This comes on the back of announcements of plans to build a high tech museum, in the north of the country to promote the recently discovered link between Angkor Wat and various other religious sites. The whole aria in the north of hundreds of square miles, is now known to have been one gigantic urban sprawl, way back in history.
Cambodia’s good fortune is a welcome boost for a country that has some of the poorest people in the region.
