Siem Reap Metropolis moves into construction for its phase 1 elements

SIEM REAP, Cambodia - Exactly 6 months from the project's first press conference held in Beijing last December, the mega development project set in the ancient city of Siem Reap - The Siem Reap Metropolis mixed-use development project's phase 1 elements are now underway to construction.

The Official Ground Breaking Ceremony for the Siem Reap Metropolis, the official ground breaking ceremony for the project was held in Siem Reap, hailing the commencement of construction works for the 3 elements of the phase - the Angkor Renaissance Heritage Theme Park, the Century Lane Shopping Mall and a 5-Star Hotel. Key members of Cheung Sheng Global Holdings, also the owners and developers of this project, arrived with over 1,000 guests and partner all coming from various parts of the APAC Region.

The event was graced by His Royal Highness Prince Sisowath Sirirath, along with numerous members of the Cambodian government. Poised to become the next city centre of the tourism hub of Siem Reap, this project has since its first debut last December garnered the attention of investors and media alike. Sited at a prime location within the city, the development is mere minutes away from key locations such as the Angkor Wat, The Siem Reap International Airport, The Siem Reap Night Market, The International Golf Course and Tonle Sap Lake. And of the Phase 1 elements, the one that draws the most attention would undoubtedly be the Angkor Renaissance Theme Park.

Uniquely designed to take on the look of a crystalline version of the Angkor Wat, this indoor theme park houses 7 major rides. With efficient use of space and incorporation of state-of-the-art theme park facilities, this attraction aims to breathe life into the heritage of the ancient city, and transform heritage materials and historical references into interactive fun rides.

Mr. Jerome Ang, Chairman of Cheung Sheng Global Holdings, mentioned during his address, "With the steady rise of tourism in Cambodia, I am sure the business setup of these elements would be a new and refreshing addition to the tourism, hospitality and retail ends of the Siem Reap economy."

Prince Sisowath, Guest of Honour to the event, added, "Today, upon this very land, we witness the start of a project that would change the face of the city. Phase 1 of the Siem Reap Metropolis will bring about a combination of commercial and tourism related real estate, that would leverage on the existing advantages of Siem Reap and future push our culture and heritage out to global visitors."

The designated contractors for the phase 1 of the Siem Reap Metropolis project, which was announced earlier in April this year, shall be Hyundai Engineering, a subsidiary of the renowned Fortune 500 Korean conglomerate. Construction works for phase 1 is expected to be complete by around July 2016, and be operational by January 2017.
