Cambodia signs MoU with Macau

PHNOM PENH Cambodia and Macau signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Monday, to collaborate on tourism development.

Xinhua news agency reported the MoU, identified human resources development in tourism and exchange visits.

Macau will provide scholarships for Cambodian government officials and students to embark on undergraduate studies in tourism in Macau for three years.

Khmer Times quoted Tourism Minister Thong Khon saying the MoU will focus first on the tourism sector and  human resource development and capacity-building in the industry.

“Macau has lots of experience in training skilled personnel in the tourism industry, so we want to start with human resource training.”

“They (Macau) will train our people to be professional tour guides. This is very important.”

“With this cooperation we hope that we can attract more tourists from Macau via China and the cooperation will help boost tourism to Cambodia,” the minister said.
