SIEM REAP Cambodia will host the 2nd edition of the Ultra Trail Angkor, 21 January, in Siem Reap province, home to the famous Angkor Wat, a UNESCO’s World Heritage site.
According to the event co-organiser, Phoenix Voyages, an inbound travel agency with offices in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar, the second edition of Ultra Trail Angkor will offer again offer a challenging 128 km race.
“Runners will pass through several temples sites on trails offering impressive landscapes over a vast area of rice fields, jungles and villages,” the co-organiser explained.
Initiated by Jean-Claude Le Cornec, four races are scheduled in the race series, categorised by the levels of difficulty: 128 km – Ultra-Trail® Angkor UTA; 64 km – Bayon Trail Angkor; 32 km – Jungle Trail Angkor; and 16 km – Temple Run Angkor.
The Ultra Trail Angkor also features a 16-km Nordic Walking race. This outdoor sport is a fast walk aided by walking sticks, usually made of composite material. It is often described as cross-country skiing, but without skis.
The first edition last January attracted 300 participants from 26 countries.
