PHNOM PENH Phnom Penh’s City Hall plans to introduce Segway a two-wheel scooter for tourists to rent to make it easier for them to explore Wat Phnom the city’s top heritage attraction.
Phnom Penh Post reported that 10 Segways would be available for hire only at Wat Phnom.
Phnom Penh municipality spokesman, Met Measpheakdey, was quoted saying initially the stand-on scooters, were provided by a Chinese aid programme for security officers to patrol the complex. Now more Segways will be imported to be rented out to tourists.
For 10,000 riel (about USD2.50), visitors can rent a Segway for half an hour to tour the attraction.
“We will wait to see if it is well-received by tourists. If it is successful, we will extend it to other locations in the city,” he said.
City Hall has bought 10 of the battery-powered two-wheeled scooters.
Wat Phnom is a Buddhist temple located in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
