Subscribers of Smart Axiata, a subsidiary of Malaysia-based Axiata Group, can now make payments for digital content by charging the payments directly to their mobile phone bill.
The service is the result of a collaboration announced Thursday between Fortumo, an international mobile technology company, and Apigate, a subsidiary of Axiata.
It will be enabled by Smart Axiata’s direct carrier billing API.
An API platform, also known as action programming interface, brings together two or more groups and creates a foundation for automated interactions between them.
“Through this collaboration, Fortumo is only required to integrate once with Apigate to deploy premium content by digital content providers at a faster rate and reduced costs to more than eight million Smart subscribers,” Fortumo’s press release said.
“Apigate provides Fortumo with immediate access to the Cambodian API marketplace, thus enhancing sales and business reach for all parties involved.”
