Fifteen officials from the public functions department in Ratanakkiri province got their unpaid stipend yesterday after sending a letter to the provincial authority to find out why it had not been paid from October to December.
Van Sophea, director of the public functions department in Ratanakkiri province, said that Public Functions Minister Pich Bunthin intervened by paying about $5,750 to 15 officials for their unpaid stipend.
“The minister helped pay them. A total of 23 million riel [about $5,750] has gone to them already,” he said.
According to the petition letter on Monday, the officials were unhappy their stipend had not been paid by the provincial treasury department.
Min Soday, a representative of the officials, said they were very happy to finally receive their stipend.
