With the countries aiming to achieve $6 billion in bilateral trade by 2020, China on Tuesday said Cambodia’s low sanitary and phytosanitary standards stand in the way of achieving their mutual trade goals, particularly when it comes to agricultural goods.
The comment was made during the fifth meeting of the China-Cambodia Trade and Economic Joint Committee on Tuesday, which brought together the Cambodian Minister of Commerce, Pan Sorasak, and Gao Yan, China’s Commerce Vice Minister, at the Sokha Hotel in Phnom Penh, according to a statement released on Wednesday by the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce.
The meeting is organised on a yearly basis to monitor the results of trade cooperation between the two nations.
