Russia’s Nordwind Airlines will open a direct Nizhnij Novgorod – Cam Ranh Bay route starting 25 October, to serve an increasing demand for holiday travel in Vietnam.
Nizhnij Novgorod International Airport Joint Stock Company’s CEO Alexander Sinelnikov was quoted as saying there were no direct flights from Nizhnij Novgorod to Vietnam but that will change with the start of this high season when the Russian charter airline begins services. The Russian city is around 400 km east of Moscow (56.2oN, 44.00E).
The upcoming flights will serve tourists who can now fly directly from Nizhnij Novgorod to the central coast of Vietnam in just 10 hours. Before Russian tourists would have to connect with flights out of Moscow to either Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi.
Today, Russia is one of the main tourism markets for Vietnam. During January to September this year, 206,045 Russian made trips to the country an increase of 65.9% over the same period last year.
Vietnam’s tourism authorities said many Russians regard Khanh Hoa and Nha Trang as the most attractive sites for them to explore, where there are more than 4,000 hotel rooms and a wide variety of tourism products plus a moderate climate all year round.
