Malaysia boosts NZ flights

Tourism New Zealand and Auckland Airport have supported Malaysia Airline’s decision to run daily flights on the Kuala Lumpur route year-round.

The number of flights on the route will increase from six to seven per week, from 30 March 2014.

Tourism New Zealand and Auckland Airport believe the extra flights will significantly assist the tourist bureau to drive additional visitation from high opportunity target markets in Asia.

“Achieving growth in air capacity is a key priority for Tourism New Zealand and sustainable air connectivity is also a feature of the Tourism Industry Association's new Tourism 2025 Framework,” Tourism New Zealand director of trade, PR and major events Justin Watson said.

Malaysian and Indian visitors to New Zealand increased by 50 percent and 19 percent respectively in September 2013, driving traveller spend by at least NZ$10 million per annum.
