Air France is back to Haneda Airport in Tokyo for the summer season 2014

TOKYO- As from 30 March 2014, Air France will be offering new services to Tokyo-Haneda airport, a gateway closer to the city centre, which also provides easier connections to the Japanese domestic network thanks to connections to some fifty Japanese cities. The French carrier will then propose two daily flights to Tokyo-Haneda –one during the day and one at night- and one daily flight to Tokyo-Narita from Paris-Charles de Gaulle in summer 2014. Air France will be the European carrier offering the largest number of services to Tokyo. The Tokyo Haneda is in fact a resumption of a previous service offered a year and a half ago.

Air France is the only airline to offer night flights between Tokyo-Haneda airport and Paris-Charles de Gaulle, ensuring that its customers arrive at their destination feeling rested. Close to the city centre and very popular with business travellers, Tokyo-Haneda also facilitates connections with the Japanese domestic network.

The day flight to Tokyo-Haneda will be operated by Boeing 777-200, with a capacity of 309 seats (35 in the Business cabin, 24 in Premium Economy and 250 in Economy). The night flight will be operated by Boeing 777-300, with a capacity of 303 seats (8 seats in La Premiere, 67 in Business, 24 in Premium Economy and 200 in Economy).

The new frequency shows the commitment of the airline to the Japanese market. Air France is in fact present in Japan for 60 years and was among the first European carriers to propose a tailor-made service for Japanese clients such as Japanese cabin crew, Japanese dishes in all cabin classes as well as a choice of Japanese or subtitles movies and local newspapers and magazines.

Air France-KLM remains leader in terms of the number of flights between Europe and Japan, offering this winter season 52 weekly frequencies on departure from both Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam-Schiphol, some of which are operated on a codeshare basis with Japan Airlines. Three destinations are on offer: Tokyo, Osaka and Fukuoka.

Air France is not the only one to mount up its frequencies to Haneda airport as new slots have been released for international services for the summer season 2014. All Nippon Airways just unveiled the launching of a daily flight from Haneda to Vancouver beginning March 30. The Japanese carrier will put in service a Boeing 767-300 offering a seat capacity for 214 passengers. Singapore Airlines recently announced to launch a third daily frequency from Singapore to Haneda from March. Lufthansa and All Nippon Airways will also serve Frankfurt on a daily basis through a code share agreement. The aircraft planned for the German service will be a brand-new Boeing 787-8.
