Vietjet opens its 22nd route between Saigon and Dalat

HO CHI MINH CITY- The mountainous resort city of Dalat will be the centre of Vietnam promotional campaign in 2014 thanks to the organization of the “National Tourism Year 2014 - Central Highlands – Dalat” with the theme “Mountains and Forests of Central Highlands”. The National Tourism Year 2014 is due to include 45 major events, including 13 events directed by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Another ten events and seven tours will be organized by Lam Dong Province including cultural tours, nature discoveries and sports tours. Special events including festivals will also be organized all across the year including the spring festival of Pleiku City (Gia Lai Province), Bana’s rong house festival in Kon Tum Province, Buon Don elephant race in Dak Lak Province, tourism week of discovering waterfalls in Dak Nong. At the end of last year, Dalat already celebrated its 120th anniversary.

The goal of National Tourism Year 2014 is to focus on developing new tourism products and deploying tours, tourist routes to highlight diversified tourism products of Central Highlands and also enhance tourism development linkage between Central Highlands and other tourism regions. Thereby, the event aims to attract further investment for economic - social development of the localities in Central Highlands; and also improve awareness and behavior culture on tourism of local communities.

The arrival of low cost carrier Vietjet is likely to stimulate demand to the resort city. The route is the 22nd of the carrier and is linking since February 22 Ho Chi Minh City and Dalat. Special promotional fares have been launched to celebrate the event. The special fares are only on sale on Vietjet website.

The route Ho Chi Minh City – Da Lat is served by a daily flight, providing some 2,520 seats.. From Dalat, the plane takes off at 9.45am and lands at Ho Chi Minh City at 10.25am. On the other direction, the plane departs at 11.00 am from Ho Chi Minh City and arrives at 11.40 am in Dalat. The duration on each direction lasts 40 minutes.

VietJetAir currently operates on 22 domestic and international routes. The airline is ambitious to fly to more domestic destinations and expand its operations to regional economic centres in Asia-Pacific. The carrier expects to provide passengers with more destinations and extensive flight schedule.
