TG introduces senior fares

30 Apr 2014  2037 | Business & Trade Fairs

THAI Airways International offers special fares for senior citizen for travel on selected domestic routes throughout remainder of the year.
The “Domestic Senior Citizen Fares 2014” applies to passengers 60 years or over.
The promotion, excluding airport taxes and surcharges, sells a one-way fare departing Bangkok to Chiang Mai at Bt2,530 on weekdays (Mondays to Thursdays) and Bt2,725 on weekends (Fridays to Sundays).
To Chiang Rai, the one-way fares sell at Bt2,965 on weekdays and Bt3,195 on weekends.
The fares are unlikely to draw a big following of senior citizens as Nok Air undercuts the fares with a Bt1,000 or more to spare. A one-way fare on Nok Air to Chiang Rai is about Bt1,500.
For senior citizens there is simply no compelling price argument to fly THAI unless they are connecting with a regional or international service in Suvarnabhumi. Baggage allowances and inflight services are the same on both TG and Nok Air.
Other TG seniors fares on weekdays and weekends: Bt2,240 and Bt2,410 Khon Kaen; Bt2,920 and Bt3,145 Krabi; Bt3,040 and Bt3,275 Phuket; Bt3,355 and Bt3,610 Hat Yai; and Bt4,135 and Bt4,455 Samui.
The promotion also sells round-trip fares to Chiang Mai at Bt5,060 and Bt5,450 on weekdays and weekends respectively, while a round-trip Chiang Rai fare costs Bt5,930 and Bt6,390.
Other round-trip fares on weekdays and weekends: Bt4,480 and Bt4,820 to Khon Kaen; Bt5,840 and Bt6,290 Krabi; Bt6,080 and Bt6,550 Phuket; Bt6,710 and Bt7,220 to Hat Yai; and Bt8,270 and Bt8,910 Samui.
