Vietnam and the Philippines signed a Memorandum of Understanding, recently, to jointly promote cruise tourism between the two countries.
The agreement was signed by Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism , Ho Anh Tuan and Philippine Deputy Tourism Minister, Daniel G. Corpuz, 26 June.
Under the agreement, the two sides will work together to research and develop cruise tourism programmes through to 2016.
The cooperation is expected to create favourable conditions for investment projects in ports, destinations, travel-related services and to promote the flow of cruises between the two nations, as well as facilitating international co-operation in tourism.
The two sides will also support each other to promote cruise products that feature both Vietnam and the Philippines to the international cruise market.
According to Vietnam’s Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho Anh Tuan, the pact should bring practical results and encourage the expansion of cruise tourism in the region.
The Philippines has a highly developed cruise industry with many cruise ships making port of calls in the country. Vietnam is also expanding its cruise marketing and cooperation should lead to a synergy of benefits that will help increase cruises to the region.
