VietJet Air’s upcoming flights connecting Can Tho with Danang, 22 July could benefit and boost to this emerging Vietnamese tourist destination.
The People’s Committee chairman, Le Hung Dung, told local media that the new air route between Can Tho and Danang will facilitate tourism development and investment.
The new route starts today, 22 July, with three roundtrip flights a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and should serve around 10,000 passengers per year.
Can Tho City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism vice director, Le Minh Son, added the new route should encourage a growth of 30% in tourism to the destination.
Can Tho is the fourth largest city in Vietnam, and the largest city in the Mekong Delta. Last year, the region attracted nearly 24 million tourist arrivals of which 2 million were foreigners. Tourism generated over USD220 million in revenue in 2013 up 11% from 2012.
Can Tho International Airport is located in Can Tho in Mekong Delta region of Vietnam. The airport was opened 1 January 2011. It was built at a cost of USD150 million and can handle up to 5 million passengers a year.
