Garuda Indonesia will expand its operations in Japan next year, with the launch of a new direct service connecting Jakarta and Nagoya.

Commencing in April 2015, the new route will operate five times a week using a twin-aisle Airbus A330-200 aircraft with 222 seats – 36 in business class and 186 in economy.

And Garuda has also sealed a codeshare agreement with ANA that will offer passengers onward connections from Nagoya to several cities in Japan, including Fukuoka, Sapporo and Okinawa.

“Japan is very important to Garuda Indonesia. For more than 50 years, Garuda Indonesia has shown its support towards the diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Japan – especially in increasing economic, tourism and social activities between the two countries,” said Garuda’s president & CEO, Emirsyah Satar.

Garuda Indonesia currently operates 39 weekly flights to Japan, including the Jakarta-Osaka, Bali-Osaka, Jakarta-Tokyo Narita, Bali-Tokyo Narita, Bali-Tokyo Haneda and Jakarta-Tokyo Haneda routes.
