BANGKOK Amadeus, a leading technology partner for the global travel industry, and AirAsia India, the newest low-cost airline in India, announced a new agreement, Wednesday, making AirAsia India content available to all Amadeus-connected travel agencies worldwide.
AirAsia India is the newest member of the AirAsia group to make their content, schedules and fares available through Amadeus.
AirAsia India will benefit from Amadeus’ light ticketing technology that allows travel agencies to view and compare AirAsia India fares in the same screen as full-service carriers. Thanks to light ticketing technology, travel agencies can book AirAsia India in Amadeus, faster than via any other booking channel.
AirAsia India CEO, Mittu Chandilya said: “In the fiercely competitive Indian aviation industry, Amadeus will help set us apart from the competition. With their unmatched global network of travel agencies and industry expertise, we are confident that Amadeus will be the ideal partner to support our ambitious growth targets.”
Amadeus Asia Pacific EVP airline commercial, Hazem Hussein, added: “India is a booming market for low-cost airlines. We are now seeing more travellers who want a low cost option via their travel agency when travelling in India.”
Today, over 70 LCC and hybrid carriers are bookable in the Amadeus system while over 85% of Amadeus bookings worldwide are made on airlines with which Amadeus has a content agreement.
