British Airways’ largest aircraft, the Airbus A380, touched down in Singapore for the first time on today (Wednesday 29 October 2014).

The 469-seat double-decker aircraft landed at Changi International Airport on Wednesday afternoon, with a full payload of passengers. It replaces the Boeing 777 aircraft BA previously operated on the daily London-Singapore run, with the larger aircraft offering an extra 4,000 seats per month on the route.

BA will also continue to fly its B777 aircraft to Singapore, on the service that continues onwards to Sydney. The A380 however, will act as a point-to-point service between London Heathrow and Changi.

Singapore becomes only the second Asian destination for BA’s A380 fleet, after Hong Kong.

In total, the UK national carrier now operates eight A380s, with a further four expected to be delivered by 2016.

And passengers on BA’s London-Singapore route will be able to sample the type of Club World seat modelled by Ms Paltrow. The A380 is fitted with 14 seats in first class, 97 in Club World (business class), 55 in World Traveller Plus (premium economy) and 303 in World Traveller (economy).

All seats come fitted with power sockets and USB ports, plus in-flight entertainment.
