Merged American Airlines combines FFP

American Airlines has integrated its frequent flyer programme with that of its merger partner, US Airways.

From the second quarter of 2015, members of US Airways’ Dividend Miles programme will now become part of the enlarged AAdvantage FFP, combining mileage balances and aligning elite levels and qualification criteria.

American began offering reciprocal benefits to AAdvantage and Dividend Miles members in January 2014, a month after the close of the merger.

“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Dividend Miles members into the AAdvantage programme next year,” said Suzanne Rubin, president of AAdvantage. “AAdvantage is the original frequent flyer programme and is consistently recognised as best in class because it rewards our most loyal customers with opportunities to upgrade and redeem miles for travel on the world’s largest airline.”

AAdvantage members will be offered three levels of elite status membership – AAdvantage Executive Platinum, Platinum and Gold. When the programs are combined, the four elite status levels offered by the Dividend Miles programme will be re-mapped into the three AAdvantage tiers.

For customers who have an account in both programmes, American will move their current Dividend Miles balances into their existing AAdvantage account.
