NokScoot gains AOC

BANGKOK  NokScoot, Thailand’s newest medium-haul budget airline, officially gained its Air Operator’s Certificate from the Department of Civil Aviation, 30 October.
According to a press release, Monday, NokScoot meets all statutory requirements and has been granted an Air Transport Service License from Ministry of Transport of Thailand.
The Air Operator’s Certificate paves for the airline to apply for operating permits and slots at overseas destinations.
inside no 2NokScoot’s chief executive 0fficer, Piya Yodmani, said: “We will submit an application to the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau. Traffic between Japan and Thailand is growing continuously year-by-year.”
The CEO added: “We aim to bring to the low-cost carrier market new value, choices and customised travel experience.”
No dates have been released for the start of the first service.
NokScoot is a joint venture set up by Nok Air, Thailand’s low cost airline, and Scoot, a budget carrier based in Singapore, owned by Singapore Airlines. The joint venture will give Singapore Airlines a foothold in Thailand’s aviation scene, possibly leading to further cooperation and expansion with Nok Air acting as a pivotal player.
Based at Don Mueang International Airport, NokScoot will operate medium to long-haul flights to international destinations with a fleet of B777-200 aircraft.
Travellers resident in Thailand will value having competitive services that bring in Singapore Airlines’ expertise though Scoot and offer connecting services from domestic destinations in Thailand to Changi Airport, Singapore.
