Jet Airways scraps no-frills flights

Jet Airways has started upgrading the services aboard its domestic flights, in a move that will mark the end of its no-frills ‘Konnect’ operations.

From this week onwards, all Jet’s domestic flights will offer two cabin classes and full-service products, including complimentary in-flight meals.

“We hope that our move to a full-service brand across all flights demonstrates our commitment to continually enhance the service and hospitality we offer our guests,” said Cramer Ball, CEO of Jet Airways.

“I firmly believe that this move to a full-service carrier, delivered in our inimitable style with the warmth and graciousness of Indian hospitality, will help Jet Airways redefine the service paradigm in Indian skies. We are all committed to delivering the best domestic full service product in India,” he added.

The move forms part of Jet’s turnaround plan, which was instigated by Etihad and is aimed at restoring the airline to profitability.

It marks the end of Jet’s experimentation with low-cost operations – an area in which it had never been able to replicate the model of pure LCCs like IndiGo, which is now India’s domestic leader in terms of market share.

Jet’s domestic network domestic now connects 51 destinations with more than 450 daily flights.
