Japan signs accord with Laos aviation

VIENTIANE Following the agreement with Cambodia, the governments of Lao PDR and Japan signed an Air Service Agreement in Vientiane last Friday.
The agreement was signed by Public Works and Transport Minister, Bounchan Sinthavong and Ambassador of Japan to Laos, Hiroyuki Kishino.
The Civil Aviation Department general director, Yakua Lopangkao, told local media that the signing of the landmark accord indicated the high level of cooperation that has been achieved between the two countries.
inside no 3“It will lead to the opening of direct fights between the two countries in order to facilitate the development of air transportation of people and goods and to promote tourism, trade and investment for both countries,” he said.
Japan is the 27th country to have signed such an agreement with the Lao PDR. Japan also signed a similar agreement with Cambodia last Wednesday.
Japan began issuing multiple-entry visas good for a period of up to three years to citizens of Laos and Cambodia, last November, hoping to capitalise on the two nations’ growth potential for outbound tourism.
