BANGKOK  Amadeus and Jet Asia Airways, a Thai airline based at Suvarnabhumi Airport, announced Tuesday that they have completed successful implementation of the full Amadeus Altéa Suite.
The project has been the fastest Amadeus migration to date for a carrier in Asia Pacific, spanning just three months.
The airline operates in a niche, mainly charters linking North Asia’s holiday market to Thailand, but plans expansion. In 2014 it made its first foray into the scheduled airline space with flights to Tokyo, Jakarta and Jeddah. It hopes to expand its network to other North Asia cities this year.
The Amadeus Altéa Suite, used by more than 120 airlines globally, is a complete passenger service system that offers full reservation, inventory and departure control capabilities.
inside no 5The implementation of the Altéa Suite will be key to Jet Asia Airways’ expansion programme, which includes the launch of a new network of scheduled passenger services that connect Thailand with North Asia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
The Altéa Suite should broaden Jet Asia Airways’ distribution channels to enable the airline to successfully enter new regional markets and customer segments, such as online sales and bookings via travel agencies.
Jet Asia Airways president, Jacob Saba said: “This is a critical milestone for Jet Asia as we continue to evolve our business model. Having the right technology partner is key to ensuring that we are set up for success.”
Amadeus Asia Pacific vice president, airline commercial Hazem Hussein added: “This implementation is only the first step in the journey to support Jet Asia Airways as they transform their business.”
Jet Asia Airways commenced operations in 2010 from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport offering charter services for Africa, China, Japan, Korea, and the Middle East.
Amadeus is a leading provider of advanced technology solutions for the global travel industry. Customer groups include travel providers (e.g. airlines, hotels, rail and ferry operators, etc.), travel sellers (travel agencies and websites), and travel buyers (corporations and travel management companies).
