THAI mulls timetable changes

BANGKOK Thai Airways International intends to cut frequencies on its Bangkok-Kuala Lumpur route from 18 to 14 flights a week, effective 1 July, according to its latest advance timetable information.
TG 419/420 will be cut from the timetable, while TG415/416 will continue to be operated by Boeing 777, instead of a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
From 29 March until 30 June the airline is planning to operate the late night and morning flights to Kuala Lumpur (TG 419, TG420) using the smaller Airbus 320 replacing the larger A330-300 aircraft.
inside no.3The airline is making capacity adjustments and culling losing routes in response to losses. In a TV interview with Spring News Channel the airline president reported there were as many as 22 planes grounded that would be sold and loss ridden routes would be cancelled to turn the airline back to profit. It is understood Madrid was one of the destinations that could be cut as early as the summer timetable.
Meanwhile, the airline will further revise its Bangkok – Tokyo Narita operations for the summer timetable. Based on the latest changes, the airline intends to reduce services from three to two flights daily, 25 May through to 30 June. TG642/643 services will be cancelled during this period.
The airline’s flights to London Heathrow will change 1 July with TG910/911 upgraded to the new A380, replacing the Boeing 747-400. Overall, frequencies will reduce from twice to just one daily service, as TG916/917 is due to be cancelled on the same date. These summer timetable changes could be subject to further review.
