Vistara flies to northeast India

Vistara has launched its first ever flights to India’s northeast.

On 2 April 2015, the Delhi-based carrier commenced daily services to Guwahati, in the state of Assam, and Bagdogra, in West Bengal. The triangular route will operate daily, flying from Delhi to Guwahati, then on to Bagdogra, and finally back to Delhi.

“We’ve had lots of customers asking us to fly to the eastern India over the past month, so we’re delighted to launch this new route in response to the customer demand,” said Phee Teik Yeoh, CEO of Vistara.

“The addition of this route reaffirms our commitment to promote regional connectivity in India, and contribute to the government’s efforts to boost trade and opening up development avenues for people in these regions,” he added.

Vistara, which is part-owned by Singapore Airlines, launched its first ever flights in January 2015 and now operates 88 weekly flights, including 34 on the Delhi-Mumbai route, 14 Delhi-Hyderabad, 13 Delhi-Ahmedabad, 13 Mumbai-Ahmedabad, seven Delhi-Goa and seven Delhi-Guwahati-Bagdogra.

Flights to Pune will commence on 9 April.

All routes are operated using Vistara’s fleet of six three-class Airbus A320 aircraft. And the airline will continue to expand in the coming months, with three more aircraft expected to be delivered before the end of 2015.
