THAI continues to operate to EU destinations

BANGKOK - Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) announces that it will continue to operate as normal to European destinations.

Mr. Charamporn Jotikasthira, THAI President, said that the European Union did not list Thai Airways International in the “List of airlines banned within the EU”, despite the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) posting a red flag on Thailand’s Department of Civil Aviation (Thai DCA). In February 2015, the ICAO had issued a Significant Safety Concern (SSC) on Thai DCA as a result of the Universal Safety Oversight Audit Program (USOAP) findings.

In the 25 June 2015 EC press release titled “Aviation: Commission updates the EU air safety list,” Thai Airways International was not listed. As such, THAI will continue to operate regularly-scheduled flights to Europe, which includes these 12 cities in 10 countries: London, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Brussels, Madrid, Munich, Oslo, Paris, Stockholm, Zurich, Milan, and Rome.

Even so, Thai Airways International has prepared a Business Continuity Plan in all operational areas in case of a major operational disruption. THAI anticipates that the Thai DCA will resolve and correct the Significant Safety Concern findings within the time frame of the ICAO, in order that Thai carriers can return to normal operations soonest.

THAI values the public concern on aviation safety, and would like to assure that THAI will continue to operate under high safety standards of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
