Minions help sell fares

HO CHI MINH CITY  Vietjet has signed a collaborative deal with Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment to paint minions –cartoon characters from the animation Despicable Me – on one of the airline’s new Airbus aircraft.
The graphic livery will appear to coincide with the showing of the Minions, in cinemas across Vietnam.
It is now a common practice among low-cost airlines to sell fuselage space for advertisements, or in this case partner with a movie firm.
Previously, the airline did a deal with Walt Disney to feature characters from the animation Planes. Another aircraft featured Mickey and Minnie and the airline also sponsored the cast from Mickey’s Magic Show on its tour of Vietnam.
inside no 2Besides aircraft featuring cartoon characters, Vietjet’s has splashed logos and slogans showcasing Visa and the national tourism symbol of Vietnam on its aircraft.
AirAsia are masters of the painted fuselage with campaigns that spread across its group’s fleet of aircraft and also include every available space in the cabin, except toilet seats.
EVA Air is famous for its long-term partnership that gave it rights to Hello Kitty branding. It created a children’s flying club and even splashes the logo across its ground handling vehicles.
Vietjet will follow suit with other colour schemes and messages on it 25 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft.
It has already opened 30 air routes inside Vietnam and between Vietnam and Thailand, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Cambodia and China.
