WASHINGTON  American Airlines temporarily halted flights in and out of several of its major US hubs Thursday due to a computer systems problem, officials said.
The stoppage was resolved a little more than an hour later.
“We’ve resolved connectivity issues that caused challenges at DFW, ORD and MIA. We’re sorry and will have you on your way soon,” American Airlines tweeted at 2:14 pm Eastern time (1814 GMT).

All of the major carrier’s flights into Chicago’s O’Hare, Dallas-Fort Worth and Miami airports had been stopped “due to technical issues,” company spokesman Casey Norton told AFP earlier.

“The airline requested that we hold departures at ORD, Miami and DFW only due to computer issues on their end. It should be lifted shortly,” FAA spokesman Lynn Lunsford told AFP.
The incident occurred just days after American said it had accidently sent the wrong plane from Los Angeles to Hawaii last month.
