THAI receives EASA TCO Authorization for flight operations to EU

24 Dec 2015  2048 | Business & Trade Fairs

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) announced that it passed the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Third Country Operator (TCO) Audit and received authorization for flight operations to countries in the European Union.

Mr. Charamporn Jotikasthira, THAI President, said that during 12-13 November 2015, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) conducted a TCO Audit on THAI, which gave its full cooperation. As a result, EASA has granted a Third Country Operator (TCO) authorization, effective 15 December 2015 onwards.

THAI, as a TCO of EASA, receives authorization to operate flights into various countries in the European Union. This is the first time for the European Union to grant TCO authorization to airlines outside of the European Union. TCO authorization is one of the requirements for Air Carriers outside the European Union needed to obtain the traffic rights or permit to fly to destinations in the EU from November 2016 onwards.

THAI has continually maintained high safety standards and in May 2015 launched the Safety Beyond Compliance Project to enhance the highest safety standards in the aviation industry based on EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) standards.

Currently, THAI operates flights to 11 destinations in Europe: London, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Brussels, Munich, Oslo, Paris, Stockholm, Zurich, Milan, and Rome.
