CHIANG MAI Thai Lion Air will launch a new flight linking Chiang Mai and Guangzhou in China, 16 July.

The new service will strengthen Chiang Mai’s regional gateway status and should encourage more Chinese tourists to visit North Thailand.

According to the airline’s website, the new service will offer four weekly flights between Thailand’s northern capital and Guangzhou, the most populous city Guangdong province, southern China.

Located on the Pearl River about 120 km northwest of Hong Kong and 145 km north of Macau, Guangzhou’s trading history dates back 2,200 years when it was a junction on the maritime Silk Road.  Today it is a major port and transportation hub.

The airline offers a one-way promotional fare, inclusive of all fees, starting at THB2,395 to celebrate the new flight.
