Laos hosts exhibition on Mekong residents opens in Vientiane

An exhibition entitled “Mekong’s stories: Challenge and Dream” opened in the Lao capital of Vientiane on April 6.

Present at the opening ceremony were Lao Deputy Minister of Information and Culture Buangeun Saphuvong, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos, the Cambodian Ambassador to Laos and representatives from the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA).

The exhibition is the result of a cultural preservation project jointly carried out by museums and cultural agencies of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, and the Swedish National Museum of World Culture.

On display are photos and artifacts, introducing those about residents living along the Mekong River in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, which gave visitors an insight into their lives, dreams and struggles.
