Celebration: National Day of Vietnam today

03 Sep 2013  2036 | World Travel News

Today is the National Day of Vietnam. This event commemorates Ho Chi Minh's recital of the Declaration of Independence at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, the country's capital, in 1945.
Located in the easternmost section on the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia, Vietnam is bordered to the north by China, to the northwest by Laos, to the southwest by Cambodia, and to the east by South China Sea. It has a population of around 90.3 million. Hanoi is its capital.
Relations between the Philippines and Vietnam have been warm and cordial. The Vietnamese government opened its Embassy in Manila in 1976, and a year later, the Philippine government opened its Embassy in Hanoi. Since then, there have been frequent exchanges of visits by top officials.
On August 1, 2013, the 7th Meeting of the Philippines-Vietnam Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC) was held in Manila. The JCBC reviews overall bilateral relations between the Philippines and Vietnam, especially on the implementation of their Action Plan 2011-2016. This Action Plan aims to enhance relations between the countries, particularly in trade, culture, tourism, defense and security, and fisheries. The next meeting for the holding of JCBC will be hosted by Vietnam in 2015.
We congratulate the government and people of Vietnam led by Their Excellencies, President Truong Tan Sang, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, Minister of Foreign Affairs Minister Pham Binh Minh, and Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang, and its Embassy in the Republic of the Philippines headed by H.E., Ambassador Nguyen Vu Tu, on the occasion of its 68th National Day. CONGRATULATIONS AND MABUHAY!
