Historic Camden Show ranked as one of the best events in New South Wales in Australia

SYDNEY - One of Macarthur’s biggest annual celebrations, the grassroots-flavoured Camden Show, has been singled out as among the best festivals and events in the State by being listed as a finalist in the 2013 NSW Tourism Awards, to be announced on November 28.

The popular 127-year-old event, which attracts around 42,000 visitors a year, is held on one weekend every autumn under the theme ‘Still a Country Show’, with traditional drawcards such as rodeos, woodchopping, sheepdog displays, showbags, an animal nursery and a carnival – all within easy access of the Sydney metropolitan area.

If the Camden Show wins the award for the best festival or event at the NSW Tourism Awards, as voted by a panel of industry judges, it will progress to represent the State in that category at the Australian Tourism Awards next February.

The Camden Show is also eligible to win the People’s Choice Awards, with the public invited to vote for their favourite tourism operation by October 28, 2013, at nswtourismawards.mobi.

The Camden Show contributes greatly to tourism in Camden and to our local economy. I wish the Camden Show Society all the best as they attend the Gala Ceremony to announce the winners in November.”

Camden Show Secretary, Lyndy Cornwell, said: “This is not only a great boost to the Camden Show but also to the whole Macarthur Region.”

Members of the Camden Show Society and Camden officials will be attending the NSW Tourism Awards Gala Ceremony on November 28 at Royal Randwick Racecourse.
