IHG emerges strong in 2013 World Travel Awards with 41 accolades

SINGAPORE - InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, part of InterContinental Hotels Group has been recognised by the 2013 World Travel Awards in Doha, Qatar as the World's Leading Hotel Brand 2013 for the seventh time and fifth consecutive year. The InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort in Koh Samui, Thailand was also recognised as the World's Leading Luxury Resort 2013.

In addition, the brand was voted Asia's Leading Business Hotel Brand and Europe's Leading Hotel Brand 2013, among other awards that also recognised individual InterContinental Hotels & Resorts properties around the globe this year.

The awards take the tally of the WTA wins by IHG this year to 41, with InterContinental properties in Asia, Middle East and Africa accounting for 27 – more than fifty per cent of the total wins. The brand's resorts also won big, having bagged a third of the awards in the region.

InterContinental properties in South East Asia bagged a staggering 12 awards with InterContinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort leading the pack as World’s Leading Luxury Resort 2013, Asia’s Leading Honeymoon Resort 2013, Asia’s Leading Luxury Resort 2013 and Thailand’s Leading Resort 2013. In Vietnam, InterContinental Asiana Saigon Hotel received three awards for Vietnam’s Leading Business Hotel 2013, Vietnam’s Leading Hotel 2013 and Vietnam’s Leading Conference Hotel 2013, while InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort was named Asia’s Leading New Resort 2013 and Vietnam’s Leading Resort 2013. InterContinental Manila, InterContinental Singapore and InterContinental Bangkok each won praise, claiming Philippines’ Leading Hotel 2013, Singapore’s Leading Conference Hotel 2013 and Thailand’s Leading Business Hotel 2013 respectively.
