Take off to Australia's Heron island with new seaplane flights

HERON ISLAND - A new seaplane transfer service has been introduced at Heron Island, at the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef, providing guests with a bird’s eye view of sharks, turtles and whales in the turquoise reef before landing on the waters adjacent to Heron Island – all in just 25 minutes.

Operated by Australia by Seaplane, guests can travel in a three-seater Cessna or a six-seater Beaver aircraft, from Gladstone to Heron Island.

The Cessna is the smaller seaplane, seating three guests, and departs from Lake Ahwonga, a 20-minute transfer from Gladstone Airport. Transfers are provided, in a Lexus or Hummer vehicle, and are included within the cost.

The Beaver seaplane is amphibious, which means it can take off from Gladstone Airport and land in the water adjacent to Heron Island. The Beaver is a six seater seaplane.

Flights can be requested for departure between 7am and 4:30pm from Gladstone, and 8am and 5:30pm from Heron Island, subject to tides.
