Thai Boutique Resort awarded the World's Best Hotel for Romance by TripAdvisor

BANGKOK - The Place Luxury Boutique Villas, an elegant five-villa boutique property on the southern Thai island of Ko Tao, has been named the World’s Best Hotel for Romance by TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice Awards 2014. The same resort also led the list of Top 25 Luxury Hotels in Asia and Top 25 Small Hotels in Asia and was ranked at Number Two in both these categories worldwide.

Two other Thai properties that topped the charts for Asia were Baan Malinee Bed and Breakfast, Phuket (Top 25 B&Bs and Inns in Asia) and Oriental Kwai Resort, Kanchanaburi (Top 25 Bargain Hotels in Asia). Both came in at Number Five in the same categories worldwide.

Altogether, 16 Thai hotels were featured in the various categories of the Travellers' Choice award winners which are based on the reviews and opinions of millions of TripAdvisor travellers around the globe.

Mr. Thawatchai Arunyik, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, said, “I would like to congratulate all the Thai award winners for their superb products and service quality that has helped them gain such huge recognition worldwide. The fact that the awards cover everything from boutique resorts to budget hotels to bed and breakfast properties is a great indicator of the excellent diversity and range of visitor accommodation in Thailand.

“These awards give small, independent hotels nationwide the opportunity to gain more recognition among consumers, and boost their business in an era of intense competition.”
