Luxury leader Aleena Phuket unveils new look

PHUKET - The multiple award-winning Aleenta Phuket-Phang Nga Resort has undergone an extensive £2.5millon makeover that once again raises the bar for high-end boutique luxury hospitality experiences in Thailand. The renovation and innovation spend has solidified Aleenta Phuket's standing as the 'barefoot' luxury leader in Thailand and one of the Kingdom's best-loved boutique hideaways, with further plans to add 44 pool suites and villas to its inventory by the end of 2014 - for a total of 88.

The makeover includes the introduction of a stunning 40-metre beachfront infinity pool on the deserted pristine 20km Natai beach, beside which is the gourmet waterfront restaurant in The Edge, as well as the introduction of a Children's Club to welcome families and the imminent opening of the resort's new spa, the Ayurah Wellness Centre. The resort's owner, Akaryn Hospitality Management Services (AHMS) Managing Director and Founder Anchalika Kijkanakorn, said the classy remodelling ensured the property kept 'growing up' without losing its fun spirit. "I launched this resort eight years ago to deliver an experience that celebrated all it was to be young and carefree," Ms Kijkanakorn said. "Now that I am a mother of two and many of our loyal guests are now married with children, I knew it was time the resort matured along with our guests, and this makeover has achieved that."

Aleenta Phuket, part of the AHMS Collection of luxury boutique resorts along roads less travelled, now not only provides adults with the ultimate getaway experience but caters for children in a manner no other five-star boutique resort in Thailand can manage. With the launch of the state-of-the-art Aleenta Children's Club, parents can relax while kids tailored for ages 18 months to 10 years engage in fun learning activities. With not a Playstation, Wii or Xbox in sight, fully qualified teachers lead activities such as chocolate-making, Muay Thai, yoga, junior diving, kayaking, sailing and surfing. There are also massage classes, a workshop and a pool.

Environmental and marine conservation classes for kids are held at the resort's sponsored Turtle Sanctuary, which is championed by Ms Kijkanakorn's highly effective charity the Pure Blue Foundation. Aleenta Phuket has also introduced a new healthy, nutritional and delicious Kid's Menu through the Ayurah Wellness Centre - replacing the usual nuggets, burgers and fish fingers with homemade sugar free ice-cream, healthy cookies and fresh 100% fruit juices. The resort's 40m beachfront infinity pool affords stunning, uninterrupted Andaman sea views and serene sunsets. It has a submerged swim-up bar and outsized daybeds, private salas over the water and a 'quiet cove'.

An interactive cooking counter and show kitchen, a new beach bar with DJ station, and a promise that the pool won't close until the last guest leaves ensures long cool evenings of laidback poolside reclining, wining and dining. The Ayurah Wellness Centre will open at the end of February with two additional treatment rooms, a post-treatment relaxation chamber, a chromo-therapy room and a state-of-the-art Vichy shower room, which provides a horizontal water massage. The spa will boast anti-aging therapies, oxygen therapy for the jetlagged and as its centrepiece, a mesmerising jellyfish tank. With the kids looked after, parents can enjoy the refined dining experience that is Aleenta Phuket's signature restaurant The Edge, or saviour the Chef's Table on the rooftop terrace for private dining for up to 12 people. Additional renovation work at Aleenta will include new decking throughout and a new and expanded Galleria Aleenta, a yoga studio and gym with cross training equipment.
