Boracay tops Asia beach list

BANGKOK : Three beaches in the Philippines, India and Thailand dominated TripAdvisor’s 2014 top 10 Asian beaches, but none of them made it to the website’s global winners.
The only Asia/Pacific beach to reach the global top 10 list was Whitehaven Beach, Whitsunday Islands in Australia.
On the Asia top 10 list, White beach, Boracay in the Philippines came out tops. Thailand, the Philippines and India each had three beaches in the top 10 with the remaining slot going to a beach in Hainan, China.

The website’s Travellers Choice awards for beaches, now in its second year, recognises more than 322 beaches on its top lists for Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, Europe, South America, the South Pacific and the US.
Eight beaches in Thailand were mentioned in Asia’s Top 25 Beaches, but Phuket’s Nai Harn Beach as well as Krabi’s Railay Beach and Phra Nang Beach ranked number five, seven and 10 respectively on the top 10 list.
The website claimed that on average, Nai Harn Beach, Phuket, saw a 22% increase year-over-year in share of international search traffic on TripAdvisor for the one month period between 20 January to 19 February.
