Sandrio Hello Kitty Town, The Little Big Club and LAT’s Place at Puteri Harbour, Nusajaya

2014 will be a memorable year for Hello Kitty aficionados as fans around the world celebrates the loveable character’s 40th Anniversary in grandeur at the first Sandrio Hello Kitty Town attraction outside of Japan in Puteri Harbour, Nusajaya.

Themed ‘Arigato hug you’, a 3-day celebration set to the tone of a festival will be held from 31 October until 2 November 2014 at the Little Red Cube.

The festival features a bazaar selling food, clothing and knick knacks as well as strolling performers for light entertainment. The 40th Anniversary celebration ends on Sunday 2 November with a Hello Kitty concert. Japanese, Korean and Malaysian pop acts will headline the concert that also serve as an attempt to break the Guinness and Malaysian Book of Records for the ‘Largest Hello Kitty Fans Gathering’ as the event expects to attract fans from the region, including Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia.

For the creative cats in the fashion industry, there will be a national fashion design contest to seek out the most artistic Malaysian festival costume design for Hello Kitty and Dear Daniel to parade in the park. Themed Attractions will be teaming up with the one of the leading design houses in the country to run this contest, with the grand prize being a trip to Sandrio Puroland in Japan.

New activities at Sandrio Hello Kitty Town includes a live stage performance by Hello Kitty and Friends called ‘Starlight Sing-Along’, which revolves around Kitty musing dreamily in her house when she is surprised by some visitors. From there, she goes on an adventure as she pursues her dream. The Wishful Studio adds another activity to its ever-growing list of souvenir crafts in the shape of a Kitty Badge Making activity.

The Little Big Club brings extra excitement to make the little ones’ big day even more memorable with the launch of the birthday party packages at the Apple and Strawberry party rooms on Level 2 and the Maron and Wellsworth Station party rooms on Level 3. The package includes decorations, party snacks, games and playtime at The Little Big Club’s rides and activities to complete the party experience.

To reach out to kids, kindergartens and education centres, The Little Big Club will soon launch a mobile variety of the attraction. Taking the form of a traveling bus, the experience includes character meet and greet, photo opportunities and simple games for kids to have a taste of the attraction.

LAT’s Place has recently revamped, introducing a new menu that offers a variety of delicious local dishes, drinks and desserts. The live animation themed restaurant has also started serving breakfast and lunch, with lunchtime meals offering a sneak preview of the popular dinner show.

For the coming school holiday in May, kampung or village life will be brought to the city in the form of an event called, ‘Pesta Kampung’, or village festival. Event highlights are nostalgic traditional childhood games such as congkak (Malaysian mancala game), batu seremban (five stones), goli (marbles), gasing (top spinning) and tengteng (hopscotch).

Kidzania Kuala Lumpur

‘Kids for a Greener World’, an annual global environment celebration at KidZania Kuala Lumpur will take place from 1 April until 5 June 2014. Themed ‘Kids for a Greener World: Reforestation’, the multi-month celebration includes eco-themed activities at KidZania Kuala Lumpur and in the surrounding community, plus a school contest called, ‘Let’s Make KidZania Kuala Lumpur a Greener Place!’ that encourages school children to submit ideas that are sustainable, economical and have practical applications at KidZania Kuala Lumpur.

This year, the festivities also include a global reforestation effort at all 15 KidZania locations globally with an international Tree Planting Day on 21 June 2014, which will include participation from visitors, to Industry Partners to KidZania’s own legislative body, CongreZZ Kids.

Having received more than 950,000 visitors since 2012, the KidZania Kuala Lumpur plans to work closely with the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism in its efforts to promote Malaysia as an ideal holiday destination, locally and internationally; while it will cooperate with the Malaysian Ministry of Education to introduce more schoolchildren to career-based role-playing.
