KUALA LUMPUR, 19 MAY 2014: Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism and Culture will organise a cultural and heritage parade, Citrawarna Kuala Lumpur, 24 May, on Jalan P. Ramlee.
The parade will showcase Malaysia’s diversity of culture and heritage and promote Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley as a tourist destination.
Some roads will be closed to traffic at the stated dates to facilitate the preparation and organisation of the event.
Jalan P. Ramlee will close from 2300, 22 May (Thursday) to 1800 23 May (Friday).
Jalan Law Yew Swee, Jalan P. Ramlee, and part of Jalan Ampang will be closed for rehearsals from 2100, 23 May (Friday) to 0100, 24 May (Saturday).
Jalan Law Yew Swee, Jalan P. Ramlee, and part of Jalan Ampang will close for the Citrawarna Kuala Lumpur parade 1900 24 May (Saturday) to 0600 , 25 May (Sunday).
More than 600 people will take part in the parade this year and residents and tourists are invited to witness the colourful demonstration of culture and heritage.
Malaysia has the highest number of tourist arrivals in ASEAN at 25.7 million in 2013 and revenue of RM65.4 billion. Revenue wise, tourism is the second largest foreign exchange earner and the sixth highest contributor to its Gross National Income (GNI).
Malaysia is celebrating its fourth Visit Malaysia Year 2014 with the theme “Celebrating 1Malaysia Truly Asia”.
The VMY 2014 promotional campaign started in 2013 with a series of events and activities leading up to VMY 2014. It will contribute to the Government’s target to welcome 36 million tourist arrivals and RM168 billion in receipts by 2020, as outlined in the Malaysia Tourism Transformation Plan (MTTP) 2020.
