KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - In observing the upcoming holy month of Ramadhan, Vistana Hotels is proud to present its Ramadhan feast; this time with the theme ‘Tok Wan 101 Recipes’. From 29th June to 27th July 2014, guests are invited to enjoy this traditional Malay spread for the breaking of the daily fast, or ‘buka puasa’ at Vistana Hotels nationwide.

Tapping into taste memories with authentic Malay dishes inspired by Tok Wans everywhere –Tok Wan being a colloquial Pahang state term for grandmother; Tok Wan 101 promises an assortment of fresh tangy salads such as kerabu ikan muara and kerabu daging ala Thai, a healthy selection of ulam-ulaman or herbal salads such as ulam raja, jantung pisang, four-angled beans and petai, coupled with palate opening sambals and sauces including sambal belacan, cencaluk, tempoyak, budu and sambal nenas, all bound to get the appetite going. Tok Wan also inspires some spicy lamb soups and a hearty beef stew amongst others.

Tok Wan’s main course spread features succulent ayam bunga rampai, rendang daging, ikan talapia goreng berempah and assam pedas ikan tenggiri. Other options to savour over hot steamed rice include ayam percik, gulai daging dengan nangka, paru paru goreng berlada, daging masak kicap dan lada hitam, ikan sembilang masak tempoyak, pajeri terong and rebung masak lemak.

What makes this feast even more special is the ambience created by the ‘buka puasa’ experience, families sitting down to pray then eat together, colleagues partaking in a post-work meal, friends reuniting; all enlivened by the presence of chef-manned stations where more all-time favourites such as kambing panggang, satay and ikan bakar with selections of stingray, mackerel and yellowtail scad, await. Western delights including Macaroni Cheese, Grilled Sausages and Pasta Marinara are also available.

End it your way with the variety of desserts, be it traditional Malay kuih-muih such as kuih talam pandan, onde-onde, seri muka, ketayap, kuih pelita, or Western, with assorted mini French pastries, carrot cake, red velvet cake, brownies and chocolate slabs. Refreshing ice cream is also available with flavours like vanilla, chocolate, peppermint and strawberry, and should you prefer an icy local treat at the end of your meal, the celebrated ice kacang is also available at the dessert counter.
