ITE taps sports appeal

HONG KONG : Travel Expo ITE in Hong Kong opens 12 June with more than 650 exhibitors (85% overseas) displaying travel produces from 45 countries.
The outbound travel show is open to trade visitors, 12 to 13 June and to travel consumers on the two remaining days, 14 and 15 June.
About half of the booths are selling travel to Asian destinations including mainland China.
Now in its 28th year, ITE covers all major tourist destination and a variety of travel products under categories such as sports tourism, travel photography, overseas wedding & honeymoon, wellness, in-depth travel and cruises.
This year the event covers 150,000 square feet of space in Halls 1 of the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre.
The organisers noted that sports tourism has a top billing at the show. Hong Kong travellers will be able to check out holidays depending on their sporting interests; Taiwan (Cycling), Switzerland & Nepal (hiking) Kazakhstan (horse riding), Sabah (diving), South Africa (adventure), and Japan (ski).
In addition, an information stand on sports tourism will have representatives from related associations/ organisations to share tips and travel ideas for diving, hiking and biking, as well as wilderness First Aid. Other travel themes are being covered at the show with seminars and displays.
During the two consumer days more than 80 travel seminars, cultural performances from abroad, special offers by some exhibitors, and lucky draws will be presented on the main stage or meeting rooms.
This year’s grand prize is airline + hotel holiday to Mauritius.
