Thai Hotels Association’s west region chapter calls on the public sector to provide funding to organise roadshow to improve the country’s image and create confidence among visitors.
THA west region chairman, Wasan Kittikul, said the state agency should provide a fund to organise roadshows to revive tourism.
“Political instability, as well as the military coup and curfew caused the numbers of foreign tourists to decline,” he said.
The chairman asked the government to provide more support for the tourism sector and to fund tourism entrepreneurs to organise promotions and roadshows, both locally and overseas.
In addition, he said: “Private organisations must create a network among domestic tourism businesses to generate a flow of income to every region in the country.”
The tourism atmosphere in Cha-am and Hua Hin improved after the curfew was lifted in both resorts.
“Asian tourists have shown great understanding regarding the current Thai political situation, but European visitors will need more time to get used to the idea and to fully understand our situation.”
Hua Hin-Cha-am Tourism Business Association president, Rungroj Sileaungsawas, added that lifting curfew has helped tourism in Cha-am and Hua Hin to improve after a drop of more than 30% during the curfew.
