HONG KONG - Mandarin Oriental Pudong, Shanghai welcomed some of the world’s brightest stars of film and television this June. The award-winning landmark on the Pudong riverfront is the Official Hotel for the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) and the Shanghai TV Festival, taking place from 9-22 June.

On 14 June, the hotel’s glittering Mandarin Ballroom hosted the star-studded SIFF Opening Cocktail Party, bringing together Hollywood and Asian cinema stars, directors, producers and leading entertainment industry figures.

Mandarin Oriental Pudong, Shanghai is accommodating the majority of the international stars and jury members attending both festivals, including Jackie Chan, John Cusack and Lin Chi Ling. The hotel is also providing venues for festival parties, press conferences and other activities throughout the festival.

The 17th Shanghai International Film Festival, held from 14-22 June, aims to promote the development of China’s film industry and is the country’s only non-specialised competitive international film festival accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF). This year’s festival is the biggest in the event’s history with a record 1,099 (competition) and 1,808 (exhibition) film entries, and 35 cinemas screening nearly 900 SIFF movies.

The 20th Shanghai TV Festival, held from 9-13 June, recognises and promotes television excellence and provides a forum for communication and cooperation. The 2014 jury comprises renowned directors, producers, filmmakers, scriptwriters and actors.

Mandarin Oriental Pudong, Shanghai is part of Harbour City, a new 25-hectare mixed-use development comprising office towers, residences, high-end retail and dynamic entertainment, plus extensive landscaped gardens. It is ideally situated within walking distance of corporate offices and tourist sites, and has direct access to the Huangpu riverside promenade and Shanghai Metropolitan Marine Yacht Club, enabling guests to enjoy sunset cruises along the river.
