Dak Lak welcomes tourists

28 Jul 2014  2041 | World Travel News

The People’s Committee of Dak Lak, Vietnam, recently set up a tourism information and promotion centre in Buon Ma Thuot city to assist tourists.
The centre provides assistance to mainly domestic tourists who visit this central highland province.
Blessed with beautiful historic and natural sites and more than 40 ethnic minority groups, Dak Lak was recognised by UNESCO as a “Masterpiece of Intangible Heritage of Humanity” in November 2005.
One of the top attractions is Don Village, the site of the palace of Vietnam’s last king. The village was once famous for rounding up and training elephants. Today, tourists can take an elephant ride, visit a 115 year-old house on stilts and see the tomb of the king of elephant hunters, Ama Kong.
Other attractions include Bao Dai, Yok Don National Park, Dray Sap and Thuy Tien waterfalls, and Lak and Ea Kao lakes.
The province is located 1,410 km from Hanoi and 320 from Ho Chi Minh City.
It is one of the key tourist destinations in Vietnam and plans to attract more than 560,000 visitors by 2015 and 1.129 million by 2020.
Last year, the province welcomed 46,000 international tourist arrivals and 419,000 domestic tourists.
