BANGKOK : Bangkok Airways says its domestic lounges at Suvarnabhumi airport will reopen after renovations are completed mid- September and end of October.
The Boutique lounge will reopen 14 September followed by the Blue Ribbon Club 31 October 2014.
Bangkok Airways’ Ground Service director, Tresarun Sitakalin, said the airline has closed both domestic lounges at Suvarnabhumi airport for renovation to improve facilities.
“The closure began with the Boutique lounge. However, passengers can enjoy complimentary snacks and beverages at a temporary kiosk located at Gate A7,” he explained.
The director added: “Afterwards, Blue Ribbon Club will be closed for renovation from 16 September to 31 October. During this closure, business class passenger and flyer bonus premiere member are welcomed to use the boutique lounge.”
The temporary snacks and beverage area at Gate A7 is standing room only. There are not enough seats or coffee tables, which discourages passengers from using the service.
Bangkok Airways won considerable business on domestic routes due to its open policy on passenger lounges. It is the only Thailand-based airline offering both economy and business class passenger lounge service, including free Wi-Fi, on airside at all airports it serves. The only exception is Chiang Rai where passengers have to get by with a counter in the holding area rather than a full-fledged lounge.
