KUALA LUMPUR – Amidst much laughter and camaraderie, two of Malaysia’s award-winning chefs; Richmond Lim, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre’s (the Centre) Executive Chef, and Datuk Redzuawan Ismail or better known as Chef Wan, presented each other with their respective culinary masterpieces, ‘The Stainless Steel Kitchen’ and ‘400 Resipi Terbaik Chef Wan: Meraikan Kegemilangan 40 Tahun Pengalaman Kulinari’ (‘Chef Wan’s 400 Best Recipes: Celebrating 40 Years of Excellence in Culinary Experience’) at a book exchange held during Bookfest@Malaysia 2014 at the Centre recently.

Chef Richmond’s ‘The Stainless Steel Kitchen’ was voted ‘Best Book for Food Professionals’ at the ‘Gourmand Best in the World Awards 2012’ while Chef Wan is a multiple Gourmand World Cookbook Awards winner, taking the ‘Tribute for an Outstanding Career’ in 2006, ‘Best Celebrity Television Chef in the World’ in 2008 and ‘Television in English’ in 2012 for ‘The Best of Chef Wan: A Taste of Malaysia’.

A beaming Chef Richmond expressed his pleasure at sharing the occasion with Chef Wan. “I’m delighted to be the proud owner of an autographed copy of Chef Wan’s latest release. Not only is he Malaysia’s most iconic celebrity chef, with 12 cookbooks to his name, he is also one of the country’s most prolific culinary authors.

“He is an inspiration to young chefs, a great role model and a wonderful ambassador for Malaysia’s culinary industry.”

‘The Stainless Steel Kitchen’ is a detailed 264-page guide for professionals in the culinary industry, providing a treasure trove of innovative ideas and tips on tackling the banqueting challenges faced by chefs the world over and offering cutting-edge solutions and creative, avant-garde ways to ensure the consistent and successful delivery of quality banqueting events. ‘400 Resipi Terbaik Chef Wan: Meraikan Kegemilangan 40 Tahun Pengalaman Kulinari’ is a unique collection of 400 Chef Wan-perfected Asian, Malay and international recipes released in May this year (2014) to celebrate his 40 years in the culinary industry.

Held for the 9th consecutive year at the Centre, BookFest@Malaysia is deemed one of the largest book expositions in Asia, showcasing leading publishers from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, United Kingdom, USA, Canada, Belgium, Singapore and Malaysia, and the latest innovations in stationery, CD and multimedia products.

The Gourmand World Cookbook Awards is an international annual event recognising the best of culinary books and television shows. Founded in 1995, the awards aim to reward and honour those who “cook with words” and to help readers find the best of the tens of thousands of culinary books that come out ever year.
