DELHI - To boost the awareness of Cambodia in the Indian travel market, Cambodia Airports, in association with Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism and industry partners, put up the first ever Tourism Seminar in New Delhi on 18 August, 2014. Held in Hotel Vivanta by Taj, it was attended by travel agents from New Delhi, as well as Mumbai and Bangalore.

The Ministry of Tourism presented the participants with information and video clips about the Cambodian destination, covering an attractive tourism package including the famed Angkor Watt Temple - the largest Hindu monument in the world - and the Kingdom’s lesser known attractions that hold considerable potential. Cambodia Airports shared information about the flight connectivity into the country to facilitate higher tourism flows between the two countries.

“Last year, we invited travel agents on a familiarization trip to Cambodia. This year, we have decided to introduce Cambodia to a wider audience so we brought a tourism seminar to India instead. We are very heartened by the positive response and valuable learning points received. We will continue our efforts to reach out to the vast Indian travel market so as to unveil the value proposition that we believe Cambodia holds for the Indian travelers”, said Patrine Tay, Marketing & Sales Director of Cambodia Airports.

The seminar was welcomed by the participating agents, who shared ideas on boosting outbound travel to the Cambodian destinations.

They are currently no non stop flights from India to Cambodia but passengers can reach the Kingdom most conveniently by Bangkok and eventually Yangon, Kuala Lumpur or Ho Chi Minh City.

In another development, Myanma Airways just announced to launch from December the first non stop flights between Osaka and Phnom Penh and then fly further to Yangon. The Burmese carrier will propose three frequencies per week. It will first be a regular charter flight.
