BANGKOK - Thailand Military Government continues to foster tourism, perceived as an essential economic activity for the Kingdom. A new measure to start from August 29 will be the possibility for 49 countries able to come to Thailand on a 30-day visa exemption to extend their stay by another 30 days.
The tourists wishing to stand longer will then be able to benefit a single time from another 30 days against a fee of 1,900 Baht. If the extension is denied, travellers will not be able to appeal to the decision and will only benefit from another seven-days extension to leave the country.
Meanwhile, extension stay will be tightened for two new categories: foreigners enrolled to study Thai in private language schools outside of the official school system, as well as those working in a public charity or NGO as well as in a foreign chamber of commerce will only be granted a 90-day visa extension, except if they are backed by a Thai governmental body.
Recently, the Kingdom decided also to waive visa fees for China PRC and Taiwanese travellers in a move to build back confidence among both nationalities.
